For all of us who have had a personal relationship with Notre Dame the recent fire was really a shock to the heart.
Knowing what I do of the presence of Notre Dame in the soul and psyche of France, I can also feel what a shock it is for the nation at large.
When I just now viewed the Astrology Chart for the current Republic of France there are, indeed, some really intense Astrological influences bearing upon her now. I will share a short account of these influences shortly.
Those of you who know me personally know that in 1984 I went to Europe for a two-week vacation, and ended up staying there for three years. My work, surprisingly, took off and I was going from country to country, city to city pretty much constantly during that period.
During that time, however, I felt that I had to return to Paris, at least every few months. Paris is my favorite of the major capitals of the world. At the time I took to calling her my ‘Muse.’
It was not, however, so much the modern Paris of today which drew me there. It was the deeper underlying reality of Paris. It was the feeling of a mystical, metaphysical, alchemical Paris of, perhaps, the 12th to 14th centuries. Indeed, the era in which Notre Dame was built.
Notre Dame was the heart of that quest for that ‘Muse.’ I have said before: “When I would walk into Notre Dame I would feel weak at the knees.” I will never forget the time that I waited two hours in line to attend the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass in Notre Dame.
I was pretty certain that I had lived in Paris in that Medieval Time period and that I already had a relationship with Notre Dame from that previous life.
In my visits to Paris in this lifetime I would often go on Sunday evenings to hear the concerts performed on the 16th century organ which would boom throughout the edifice.
I would also go on my own and play inspiring cosmic music by Kitaro on my Walkman while I stared, transfixed in meditative contemplation, at the Mandala of the Rose Window.
Additionally, some of you know that certain of the heaviest scenes in the novel I’m hoping to write take place in Notre Dame.
I did have a certain induction into the mystical power contained within the creation and structure of Notre Dame, and indeed, all of the Gothic Cathedrals. An induction into a realm of knowledge and wisdom which enabled me to go much deeper than my Catholic roots of this lifetime.
I encountered teachings to the effect that the Mason’s Guilds and Architects that designed and built those cathedrals were able to imbue them with tremendous mystical significances, way beyond the canons of Catholicism. Mystical significances to which I have heard it said: ‘These would make the writings of Dan Brown seem like ‘child’s play.’
I won’t share those details now. They are out there for those who seek them. Although one factor to note: If you plot all of the Gothic Cathedrals of France on a map of the nation of France they will form a replica of the star constellation Virgo, ie. the Virgin.
Anyway, I just wanted to share a little about how and why I am feeling as I am today.
Some of the symbolism we are encountering in this event is pretty obvious. ‘Notre Dame translates as Our Lady’ and is an archetype of the Divine Feminine Energy. She was burned and almost destroyed by fire. Perhaps this is to serve as a metaphor for what is happening to our Mother Earth herself?
I also have noted the significance that the famous Bell Towers were saved, but the ascending Spire was lost. So, in essence, Our Lady can still send out the call, but the access to ascension is no longer available.
Of course it will be rebuilt, and with that there may, hopefully, be a renewed aspiration for ascension beyond the perspective and concerns of this fleeting dream of a material life.
I don’t think, however, that the devotion, thoughts and feelings of the workmen who carve and place the stones during the rebuild will be anything like those who did the work the first time.
We have truly lost something sacred.
My Astrological and other observations of France will follow soon.
