This month there is a far-reaching, highly significant Astrological configuration taking place. The essential dynamics of this will appear in this monthly forecast. However, I will be writing a separate newsletter regarding this event which should arrive soon.
We enter December on the day after the Full Moon of November 30th.
1 – Mercury goes from watery Scorpio into fiery Sagittarius.
5 – Venus in Scorpio will harmoniously trine Neptune in Pisces. This day is Saturday, so a good time to take some time off and indulge in whatever inspires your emotions to attune to their most lofty aspirations/inspirations.
9 – The Sun in Sagittarius will square Neptune in Pisces. Sagittarius can be overly honest and fanatical. Pisces can be escapist and full of self-pity/victimhood. In a square they will tend to bring out these worst sides of themselves. We may witness this on the global scale but also experience one or the other within ourselves, whichever we have the greater propensity for. And we could easily project the other end/characteristic on someone else. To win at this game one has to work harder to bring in the positive compassionate qualities of Sagittarian honesty and moral conviction, along with the more realistic and honest potential of Piscean emotional empathy and sensitivity.
10 – 15 – Venus in Scorpio will harmoniously sextile Pluto in Capricorn on the 10th, then sextile Jupiter in Capricorn on the 14th, and Saturn in Capricorn on the 15th. This trio of planets in Capricorn is the larger Astrological dynamic of the serious hard work of 2020. Here, at the end of the year, Venus will be able to feel quite deeply, and yet harmoniously as only Scorpio can do, what needs to be emotionally embraced in relation to the profound Capricornian structural, authoritative transformations and new ambitions that are now, and in the future, needing to take place.
11 – On this day the Sun in Sagittarius will harmoniously trine Mars in Aries. These two planets in these fiery willful signs have been hampered in recent months through tensions with other planets. Today they can support and inspire each other with mutual fiery willful confidence.
13 – Mercury in Sagittarius will square Neptune in Pisces. This is similar to the Sagittarius/Pisces tension of the 9th. Today the Sagittarian end of this tension will be manifesting in the Mercurial/mental/communicative tendency to be over-honest and a bit fanatical. Here it will have to confront the Neptunian/Piscean propensity for illusion, confusion, delusion, victimhood and martyrdom.
14 – First we will have the Sun/Moon, New Moon conjunction in Sagittarius. This time with a Solar Eclipse, therefore a death/rebirth of conscious Sagittarian beliefs and ideals. Maybe around this time is when Trump finally concedes, although, hopefully, that will have already taken place and there will be some other death/rebirth of belief system taking place.
By the way, here is the Sabian Symbol (from Dane Rhudyar’s ‘Astrological Mandala’) for the 24th degree of Sagittarius for this New Moon Eclipse:
PHASE 264 (SAGITTARIUS 24°): A BLUEBIRD PERCHED ON THE GATE OF A COTTAGE.
KEYNOTE: The reward which meets every effort at integrating into a social environment for those who remain true to their own selves.
The bluebird is a symbol of happiness, but also it refers to what one might call a spiritually oriented mind – to which the color blue relates, especially when a ‘bird’ is mentioned. A cottage is normally a part of a community, and the implication is that its inhabitant are well-adapted, either to the life of the community, or to their’ more or less isolated togetherness.
This is a fourth stage symbol, and it suggests that the essential technique for successful living is the development of a consciousness in which peace and happiness dwell. There is also a hint that GOOD FORTUNE is going to bless your life. (End Quote)
Sounds pretty hopeful for the last New Moon of the year.
Later this day there will be another one of the harmonious Venus/Capricorn aspects, this time with Jupiter, being the more optimistic and hopeful of the three.
And, towards the end of the day, Mercury in Sagittarius will harmoniously trine Mars in Aries. A great time to feel the courage and confidence to say/write what you really believe, or know you need to say, to implement positive change and understanding.
15 – Today we have the third Venus/Capricorn sextile. This time it will be with Saturn in Capricorn. Generally, Capricorn is about the best place to have Saturn. Here his diligent, hard-working seriousness and responsibility and ambition can be put to good use. Today you can put the deepest feelings of your heart into those ambitions.
17 – 21 – On March 21st of this year, Saturn entered Aquarius. On July 1st Saturn retrograded back into Capricorn. On this day of December 17th, however, Saturn will re-enter Aquarius and remain there until March 7, 2023. This will be one component of a very large event taking place on December 21st.
On the 19th there will be a Sun/Mercury conjunction in Sagittarius. Another good day for emphatic, honest communications around what you believe to be true. With the Sun you can let it be known as really being a part of who you really are.
Earlier on the 19th, Jupiter will also enter Aquarius and remain there until December 30th, 2021. (Except for the period between May 13 and July 29 when Jupiter will temporarily dip into Pisces.
20 – On this day Mercury will move from fiery Sagittarius into earthy Capricorn.
21 – This is the ‘Big Day’ of highly significant Astrological Symbolism this month.
First of all, it is the day of the Winter Solstice with the Sun moving into the month of Capricorn. This is the day when the Sun ends its annual movement to the South and turns again northward, with the days now becoming longer in the Northern Hemisphere and shorter in the Southern Hemisphere.
On this same day, however, there will be a Saturn/Jupiter conjunction in the first degree of Aquarius.
For Medieval and Ancient Astrologers, Jupiter and Saturn were the outermost planets of which they were aware. Their time periods being before the time of the later discoveries of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. When these two planets, Jupiter and Saturn, made their conjunction, (approximately every 20 years), it was therefore viewed as being highly significant.
Jupiter, the Roman god derived from the Greek god Zeus, was always associated with currently ruling Kings and dynasties. Saturn was seen as ‘father time’ and bringer of death and concrete ‘reality checks.’ Their conjunction was often said to herald the death/rebirth of existing ruling regimes.
By the time we have arrived at this date of December 21, 2020, I expect I will have written and shared with you my fuller explanation for the significance of this day’s event. And so I will withhold further commentary upon this at this time.
One added note I would like to share at this time is that this conjunction is significant not only in relation to a once every 20-years timescale, but also as the beginning of a new 200-year cycle.
23 – Today we will have the last of the three Mars in Aries/Pluto in Capricorn squares. Mars in Aries, by itself, can be rather aggressive if not violent. He has been engaging in squaring tensions with the Capricorn trio of the planets Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter throughout much of this year. Seeing these approaching tensions made us Astrologers rather apprehensive of the possibility for some rather impulsive, aggressive tendencies. Tendencies which could be launched against the seemingly long-held Capricornian traditions, rules and authoritative structures which, themselves, have been going through tremendous scrutiny/transformation ever since Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008.
So, we knew this year was going to have a feisty election season here in the U.S., but we were also not surprised of the flaring of passions on both sides of the political divides following the death of George Floyd.
Today will be the last of these Mars/Capricorn tense engagements of this year. I, for one, will be watching how it plays out.
25 – 27 – On Christmas Day there will be some harmony involving Mercury in Capricorn. Capricorn energy tends to oriented towards the traditional and conservative. The positive side of that is when it is an energy providing comfort and stability and a sense of security and harmony with your ‘place in time.’
That seems like something we can all appreciate about this time of Christmas, Solstice and the other cultural/religious observances taking place at this time of the year.
The harmony with Mercury this time, however, is in a trine to Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is not about stability and tradition. It is about revolution, thinking outside of the box, and freedom from old patterns that have outlived their purpose.
Today, perhaps, we can use the stability of the past to feel comfortable with the inevitable changes which will be coming in the future.
This Capricorn/Uranus Harmony will be something becoming even more conscious as the Sun in Capricorn will harmoniously trine Uranus as well on the 27th.
29 – Today will be the day of the Sun in Capricorn/Moon in Cancer, Full Moon opposition. So, the Solar/Conscious Capricorn traditional/structural/authoritative consciousness will be challenged by Lunar/Unconscious, Cancerian emotional, nurturing needs of one’s family or clan. Time to acknowledge, heal and integrate.
30 – Venus in Sagittarius, which can be overly honest and/or more interested in the love of travel than the love of another person, will square Neptune in Pisces. Neptune in Pisces can create a deep collective experience of vulnerability and pain. So, there may be some emotional frustrations felt by the Venus/Sagittarian honesty/freedom urges that need to be felt, accepted and surrendered to in light of the deeper vulnerabilities we are experiencing now collectively, and in the deeper parts of ourselves.
