December 2017

Starwise Forecast

We enter December just two days before the Full Moon on the 3rd.

1 – Venus moves from watery Scorpio into fiery Sagittarius.

Mars in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries. Mars/Uranus aspects, especially tense ones like this, make it difficult to control the martial, willful energies. One is subject to impulsive actions.

With Uranus in Aries, ruled by Mars. We have an extra potential for fiery willful actions in the cause of ‘freedom’ rocking Libran relationships and decorum.

2 – A building harmony over recent weeks peaks today as Jupiter in Scorpio harmonizes, trines, with Neptune in Pisces.

All of the Jupiter in Scorpio sexual secrets being brought to public view can now feel some Neptunian compassion, healing or some higher idealistic spirituality and/or altruism.

Mercury goes retrograde, until the 22nd.

3 – The Annual Sun in Sagittarius/Moon in Gemini Full Moon opposition.

Some Full Moons fall in signs where the energy feels really oppositional. And others fall in signs where the oppositional tension seems to make things extra ‘pumped up’.

Gemini opposite Sagittarius feels like the latter.

Although Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, can tend to be overly focused on the ‘Big Picture’. Whereas Gemini, ruled by Mercury, can orbit much more quickly from thought to thought.

Here with the Sun in Sagittarius it is our conscious identity trying to be attuned to that Big Picture. And with the Moon in Gemini it is more the unconscious rational thinking energies that are being stimulated/challenged.

This year’s Gemini/Sagittarius Full Moon has a whole other factor at play. Both the Sun and Moon will be squaring Neptune in Pisces on this day.

Difficult Neptune aspects, especially while Neptune is in Pisces, the sign it rules, is always going to challenge us with emotional vulnerability and a test of our ability to dissolve and surrender with faith and trust, without feeling the need to identify with the victim or make someone else a victim.

A real challenge during this time of pumped up Sagittarian Big Picture’ idealism engaged with Gemini rational, thinking energies.

6 –A powerful Mercury/Saturn/Mars day. Mercury in Sagittarius will conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius. This is always good for disciplined focus and commitment of the mental, communicating energies.

Mercury is retrograde right now, however, so the focus is more on going back over things.

Both Mercury and Saturn will harmonize, sextile, Mars in Libra. So that disciplined focus onto previous things will have some extra ‘oomph’ at its disposal. Maybe looking energetically at hard to reach places.

9 – Mars goes from airy Libra into watery Scorpio until January 26.

10 – Mercury in Sagittarius harmonizes with, trines, Uranus in Aries. A highly intuitive, enthusiastic, understanding in the cause of new freedom can happen here.

Later in the day, however, Venus in Sagittarius will square Neptune in Pisces, so we will have more Sagittarian/Piscean tension in resonance with what we experienced on the 3rd during the Full Moon.

With Venus involved the emotional aspect of the potential confusion/vulnerabilities gets heightened.

Venus in Sagittarius tends to want to travel, to be independent, to be free. Today she may be feeling a ‘test of faith’ in her ability to do so.

12 – 17 – On the 12th Mercury conjuncts the Sun in Sagittarius and on the 15th Mercury conjuncts Venus in Sagittarius, so basically we have a Sun/Mercury/Venus conjunction, all in Sagittarius. Time for a party! Or to do anything that requires idealistic enthusiasm and honesty.

Following on from the fiery Sagittarian conjunction, on the 16th, the Sun in Sagittarius harmonizes, trines, Uranus in Aries, bringing in even more fiery freedom to express ‘outside of the box.’

Then on the 17th the Sun conjuncts the Moon for the New Moon in Sagittarius, which by itself is the best time of the year to align and focus Sagittarian idealistic expansive intentions. This year we have quite a prelude those few days before the New Moon.

19 – Saturn moves out of Sagittarius into Capricorn, the sign which it rules. In a Natal Birth Chart Capricorn is about the best place to have Saturn. Capricorn benefits from the serious, authoritative, taskmaster of Saturn. Responsibility, accountability, and focused ambitions will be more the ‘order of the day.’

However, the effect of that Saturn in Capricorn influence on the different signs of the Zodiac will vary greatly, depending on the relationship between your sign and the energies of Capricorn.

Saturn will remain in Capricorn until March of 2020.

20 – Venus in Sagittarius harmonizes with, trines, Uranus in Aries, so some pretty positive emotional freedom and spontaneity will be available.

21 – The Winter Solstice is always the Sun’s entry into the month of Capricorn. This year this entry into Capricorn is profoundly enhanced as four and a half hours after the Sun enters Capricorn it conjuncts Saturn in Capricorn.

In light of what I said on the 19th in regard to Saturn moving into Capricorn on that date, this Sun/Saturn conjunction in Capricorn is where we can really consciously identify with and align with that serious, focused Saturn in Capricorn energy.

Anything requiring commitment over the ‘long haul’ has a good day here to make that conscious commitment.

22 – Mercury ends its retrograde motion and turns direct.

24/25 – Venus moves from fiery Sagittarius into earthy Capricorn on the 24th.

On the 25th, Christmas Day, she conjuncts Saturn in Capricorn. Venus in Capricorn can be a bit cool and restrained, but it is also capable of real loyalty and commitment.

Feels like a pretty sober but real Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

27 – Mars in Scorpio harmonizes with, trines, Neptune in Pisces.

Mars in Scorpio can be overly focused on the physical aspect of Love, where Love is made to serve passion, rather than passion being the servant of Love.

But Neptune, especially in Pisces, in a positive aspect like this can really help us to access compassion and pure unconditional love.

With all of the Scorpio-themed negative shenanigans spilling out this year it seems we end the year with some healing or the opportunity to raise your own sexuality to a higher level.
