Astrology of 2018

Note: Watch for a special announcement soon in regard to private consultations with me later this month.

Dear Friends, Clients, and Subscribers,

I have been working on this article for some weeks now. Obviously we have already entered into 2018 with a flurry of new Donald Trump media-grabbing news. The excerpts from the book: ‘Fire and Fury,’ do seem to confirm many of the observations I made in my lectures now posted on YouTube about him and his Astrological make-up.

What I can note here is that there was a Mars/Jupiter conjunction in Scorpio operative during the weekend that those secret revelations hit the news. Scorpio is secret, hidden emotions, Mars is will and aggressivity, and Jupiter is enthusiastic expansion of your belief system.

It was moving into a square to the Mars in Leo/Leo Ascendant of President Donald Trump. The Leo Ascendant being the pride and arrogance tendencies afforded to someone to compensate for insecurity in previous lives. The Mars in Leo conjuncting that Ascendant is his mode of response whenever that hidden insecurity is attacked, basically to ‘hit ‘em back ten times harder.’

The approaching Jupiter Square to that Leo Ascendant will be exact on November 8th. The Midterm elections are on November 6th. hmm….

I will be following this article with additional newsletters about the impending effects of all of this upon the U.S. Astrological chart and the Astrological chart of Donald Trump in the year ahead.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy what I have written here, which has a bit more of a global perspective of what is happening in 2018.

2018 – An Astrological View

There are some major Astrological shifts occurring this year which will definitely change the flavor of the times we are evolving through. These major shifts, however, feel like a ‘prelude’ or a ‘setting the stage’ for the major alignment of Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn in 2020.

Astrologers have already started to predict that in the future they we will look back and refer to Earth history in terms of before and after 2020. Suffice it to say, there is likely to be a major transformation of the basic structures of global society at that time.

For example, the last time there was a major line-up in Capricorn similar to this was in 1989 at the time of the collapse of the Berlin Wall, and subsequently the Soviet Bloc and the end of the Cold War.

How we prepare ourselves and our societies in the two years leading to 2020 will determine how well prepared we will be for the transformations of 2020. Basically it will determine to what degree we can enter into that period gracefully and to what degree we will have to enter into it ‘kicking and screaming.’

I will, no doubt, be talking about the specifics of 2020 in future articles. To give it a brief description, it feels like the death of the old Patriarchal order of things as we enter the Aquarian Age, Aquarius being the sign following Capricorn into which Pluto will enter in 2024 for the first time in 247 years.

In looking at 2018 we can see that one of the significant trends shifting in 2018 actually took place on December 19, 2017, the day the Republicans signed their tax bill in the Senate. On that very day Saturn moved into Capricorn where it will remain, except for a few months of retrograde, until December of 2020.

Pluto has already entered Capricorn, back in 2008, providing the deep unconscious awareness that the way in which we live materially (financial and otherwise) must go through a major death/rebirth. This has already been spreading through the unconscious psyche of the entire planet, especially as a result of the financial crisis of 2008, but also from the threats of Global Warming, the greater and greater extremes of wealth inequality etc.

Saturn, however, is the planet that binds energy into form. It makes things ‘real.’ When Saturn conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn in 2020 the deep Plutonian unconscious awareness of needed/impending transformations will somehow become ‘real.’

Now, watching what happens when a planet first enters a new sign often provides us with a symbolic omen of the impending journey of that planet though that particular sign

For example, on the day that Uranus entered Aries (beginning a 7 year period) was the day that the Fukushima Nuclear Reactor accident in Japan took place. Aries is a fire sign and has lots of energy. Controlling it can be a challenge. Uranus is the surprise, out of the blue, uncontrollable lightning bolt of change.

The early part of this decade has been largely influenced by seven squares between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. Those of you who have been reading my newsletters for some time may be tired of hearing about it. Suffice it to say it is relatable to all of the surprise (Uranus) transformations or efforts of transformation (Pluto) of old structures, hence the ‘Arab Spring,’ ‘Brexit,’ and the host of the TV show ‘The Apprentice’ now being President of the United States of America.

The fact that the Republicans passed their tax bill on the day of Saturn’s entry into Capricorn does seem to bear the quality of an omen, whether you believe that it will stimulate the economy and create jobs, or it simply will benefit the wealthy and balloon the National Debt, I think it is serving as a potent image for what we will be facing in 2020, a serious restructuring in a ‘real’ way of economic structures.

The collective response to that Republican bill in the two years ahead will have a lot to do in determining the ultimate fate in 2020. Obviously, 2020 will be a hell of a year for a Presidential election.

Capricorn, however, is ambitious and self-reliant and responsible and can be used in a powerful determined way in the service of compassion as well as greed, by the political Left as well as the Right.

Saturn rules Capricorn and it is actually about the only largely good place to have Saturn. When I get to interpreting Saturn in someone’s chart I usually preface it by saying ‘Unfortunately everyone has Saturn somewhere.’

Here is what Hilarion* says about Saturn in Capricorn:

In Capricorn, Saturn is in its own sign, and is therefore very strongly placed. In general, all of the positive Saturnian traits will tend to be present, and some of the negative ones depending upon the degree of affliction. The positive traits are those of seriousness, stability, caution, an instinct to seek safe positions, ambition and a strong ability to do well in the world’s terms, i.e. worldly Success. The negative traits are emotional coldness, an over-emphasis on worldly success, hyper-punctuality. The matter of aspects must be carefully judged as the absence of negative aspects will mean that none of the Saturn-in-Capricorn lessons are slated for the life being lived.

Personally I plan to use this Saturn energy to finish at least one of my not yet completed books as well as to ‘concretize’ (A good Saturnian term) some of my other visions and ventures.

But this is what Hilarion says about Saturn/Pluto aspects in general in a natal chart:

Saturn aspects to Pluto are not well understood by present-day astrologers, as these contacts are essentially in the unconscious sphere and only periodically surface into the conscious ego or into the surrounding life-pattern. The meaning of a Saturn/Pluto contact is that of an extremely far-reaching change being required in the individual in this life. It is a change that affects the unconscious sphere deeply. In some manner an attitude, outlook, way of thinking or approach to some area of the life experience must undergo a radical alteration, one which in almost every case will be forced upon the individual by events or circumstances beyond his control. The signs and houses holding the two planets will give an idea of the change that is required. Pluto will usually point to the general area, while Saturn will describe the means by which the change must come.

The last time Pluto was in hard aspect to Saturn was at the time of 9/11, another time where we could talk about history before and after that date.

So this is what we have happening as we approach 2020. One way or another it should give us some 20/20 vision.

There is another approaching Astrological ‘weather pattern’ this year which is also likely to bear upon the financial/political/security themes of our lives. That is the entry of Uranus into Taurus in May of this year, where it will remain, with a brief period of retrograde, for about 7 years. Taurus is also, along with Capricorn, an Earth sign. Taurus is the sign for which the question really is: ‘Are you going to choose the Love or the Money?’

Hilarion says that someone who is born with the Sun in Taurus is someone who has developed a quality of Love at a very high level in previous lives (they are ruled by Venus). Their challenge in this life is to be able to give that love unconditionally. If they have difficulty giving that love it may instead turn back towards themselves, focusing on their senses, or an over-valuing of money, possessions and material security.

So, what results will come from Uranus being in Taurus? Well if we look back in history as to what happened when Uranus was in Taurus before we can see that it was there from 1850 to 1859. This was the beginning of a new phase of the ‘Industrial Revolution.’ In fact, in 1851 we had Uranus, Saturn and Pluto all in Taurus.

Uranus rules technology and there were major technological discoveries in those years, allowing an unprecedented transformation of material existence at that time, and we could expect some similar developments in our current world.

This Industrial Revolution, however, also allowed the accumulation of unprecedented personal wealth, and with that, tremendous political power by certain individuals. In fact, at the end of this period, in February 1859, with Uranus in the very last degree of Taurus, was the first usage of the term: ‘Robber Baron.’

Here is some of the Wikipedia interpretation of the sense and historical usage of this term:

The metaphor appeared as early as February 9, 1859, when The New York Times used it to characterize the unethical business practices by Cornelius Vanderbilt. Historian T.J. Stiles says the metaphor, “conjures up visions of titanic monopolists who crushed competitors, rigged markets, and corrupted government. In their greed and power, legend has it, they held sway over a helpless democracy.”[2] Charles R. Geisst says, “in a Darwinist age, Vanderbilt developed a reputation as a plunderer who took no prisoners.”[3] Hal Bridges said that the term represented the idea that “business leaders in the United States from about 1865 to 1900 were, on the whole, a set of avaricious rascals who habitually cheated and robbed investors and consumers, corrupted government, fought ruthlessly among themselves, and in general carried on predatory activities comparable to those of the robber barons of medieval Europe.”[4]
The term combines the pejorative senses of criminal (“robber”) and aristocrat (“barons” having no legitimate role in a republic). Hostile cartoonists might dress the offenders in royal garb to underscore the offense against democracy.[5]

Saturn was also squaring Pluto at that same time, their first hard aspect to each other since 1851.

The next period we had of Uranus in Taurus was 1934- 1941, the period of the Great Depression. The depression started earlier, during the shocking Uranus in Aries period. The reason the Great Depression was later called the ‘Great Depression’ was because it lasted so long, awareness of which really came to bear during the period of Uranus in Taurus. This created a hunger for and acceptance of radical change in relation to financial economics. It brought Franklin Deleanor Roosevelt to the Presidency and his economic policies called the ‘New Deal’ (very Uranus in Taurus) and brought into being things like Social Security, Child Labor Laws, and Federal Insurance for our bank deposits.

1934-1941 also brought Adolf Hitler to power as he promised, and succeeded, in transforming the German economy. Uranus promises freedom from old patterns, but we can be impulsive as to what price we are willing to pay for that new freedom.

Of course all of this year’s Astrological movements will have its own specific effects on the Astrological Chart of the U.S., your own nation’s Astrological chart, and Donald Trump’s, chart. As I said earlier, I will be writing other articles about the possible effects of this Astrological weather on the U.S. and Donald Trump.

The other sign change of a slower moving planet in 2018 will be Jupiter moving out of Scorpio into its own sign of Sagittarius in November.

We just had two and a half years of Saturn in Sagittarius, which I think has put a serious heavy weight upon our optimistic enthusiasm towards our beliefs and aspirations.

Jupiter moving into Sagittarius right after the Mid-term elections I think will be relatable to whatever enthusiastic ‘rebound’ the Democrats will be feeling from the results of the election.

In fact, Uranus dips back for a few months into Aries, that sign of fiery willful energy, on the day of the election.

Additionally, aside from the usual run of Solar and Lunar Eclipses, there will be some nice harmonizing sextiles between Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn, on January 15, April 14, and September 12.

I see this as a positive, expansive, Jupiterian enthusiasm willing to dig up secret, hidden, Scorpionic passions and desires, or the abuse thereof, (which we have already been witnessing since Jupiter entered Scorpio in November), but now working with profound Plutonian transformation of old, entrenched Capricornian structures and traditions. Kind of like Oprah Winfry’s speech the other night at the Golden Globe awards, followed by calls for her to run for President.

Jupiter will also start to harmoniously trine Neptune in August, so some of those aspirational prayers may actually be answered.

The outer planets spend a lot of time retrograde, going backwards, this year, so I don’t feel this year will see any really dramatic changes on the global scene.

That being said, the eclipses on July 12 and 28 involve hard aspects to Pluto and Uranus, which could add greatly to the intensity and sudden changeable quality of those events.

As far as how all of this may be affecting your own individual chart, as I said in my note at the beginning, soon I will be making a special announcement, which may interest you.

In the mean time, let us try to remember to choose the love and the faith.

Harvey Weinstein, Sex and Jupiter into Scorpio

(Richard Shotwell / Associated Press)

I just thought it was curious that the first allegations about Harvey Weinstein’s proclivity for sexual harassment came out just a few days before Jupiter went into Scorpio. And on the day that Jupiter went into Scorpio:

According to Wikipedia:

In The New Yorker on October 10, 2017, Ronan Farrow reported further allegations that Weinstein had assaulted or harassed 13 women, and raped three of them.

Jupiter is large expansiveness and can be exaggerated, ‘over the top’ and fanatical. Scorpio is the sign of sex, birth and death.

Here is what Hilarion says about Jupiter in Scorpio:

In Scorpio, ruled by Mars and Pluto, Jupiter promotes an excessive interest in the sensation/sexual outlet for energy. Afflicted, Jupiter here will cause the mind to play ceaselessly with the sexual fantasies and will tend to cause the individual to seek out this form of experience to an excessive degree. The major lesson is to moderate and control this tendency. In positive aspect, Jupiter in Scorpio ensures an ability to do well financially, and gives a strong sex drive.

Now I always tell my clients that that last statement, about a strong sex drive being part of a positively aspected Jupiter in Scorpio, shows that Hilarion himself is not a prude. He is not against sex. This tendency, however, to overemphasize the physical aspect of love shows up in about 75% of our charts in one way or another.

Harvey Weinstein's Chart

Harvey Weinstein has a powerful Jupiter in his chart, hence his ‘bigness’ in many ways. It wasn’t in Scorpio but he did have Mars in Scorpio square to Pluto.

I remember Astrologer Liz Greene once saying that Pluto/Mars aspects show up a high frequency of times in the charts of both rapists and rape victims.

Here is what Hilarion says about Mars in Scorpio:

Scorpio is ruled by Mars, and the martian energies have full expression through this sign. In Scorpio, the martian energies are found mainly in the sexual area and thus the lesson is to avoid sexual excesses, regardless of aspect. The worse the aspects, the harder it will be to control the sexual nature. Another point that can usually be made with Mars in Scorpio afflicted is that a karmic loss must be undergone in the life — a separation from someone with whom strong sexual ties have been forged. This is, of course, to prompt the individual to place less emphasis on the sexual outlet for the energies.

A square to Pluto is pretty well afflicted.

As far as that karmic loss, well his wife, Georgina Chapman, announced that she was separating from him on that same fateful day of October 10th.

Jupiter will be in Scorpio until November 2018 and it is bound to bring some expansive viewing of some of the secret Scorpionic energies of our lives and our society. Of course this could also create some juicy energies around positive sexual experience for us as well.

Hilarion says that the way in which we experience sexuality now doesn’t give a glimpse of the power and grandeur it will be for us in the New Age.

The Current Challenges of Pluto & Uranus

Spiritual Company Newsletter

By Steffan Vanel • Astrologer • Tarot  Reader

March 17, 2015

Dear Friends, Clients, & Subscribers,

Yesterday was the final of 7 squares between Pluto and Uranus occurring between 2012 and 2015. In these years things have been rather intense and crazy. To be honest, however, when I saw this period of Astrological weather approaching I was both fearing and hoping that it would be even more intense, challenging, and/or transformative than it has been.

Hilarion* describes Pluto in this way:

The planet Pluto is the great bringer of change. Where this planet is located in the birth chart always designates an area or department of life in which the soul has agreed to undergo pressures promoting a deep-seated alteration in its attitudes, habits or understanding. If the personality resists these pressures, then much stress and difficulty will be felt. Pluto is like the irresistible force, sweeping all before it. The only beneficial approach to this planet’s energies is to move in the direction it indicates. To do otherwise is to invite disaster.

Personally, anything involving Pluto can induce in me what I now call ‘Plutophobia,’ in part based on personal life experiences.

And yet, there has been plenty in the news to resonate with the gravity of this tension between the planet of complete death/rebirth (Pluto) and the planet of revolution and liberation from old patterns that have outlived their purpose (Uranus). Those of you who have been reading my newsletters these past years I am sure have noted my returning frequently to these themes.

There is an historical corollary, however, which leads me to think that an Astrological event like this period of Pluto/Uranus squares is itself the birth of a new energy or consciousness, but not the full manifestation of it.

The historical comparison I have made is with the last period of time in which these two planets were in ‘hard aspect’ with each other. That was when Pluto and Uranus conjuncted each other. Once in 1965 and twice in 1966. These conjunctions are the Astrological ‘signature’ of what we now call ‘The Sixties.’

Just as the prelude period before 2012-2015 saw omens of intense transformative forces approaching, such as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Financial crash of 2008, so too, prior to 1965/66 we had already experienced the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Kennedy Assassination, the beginning of U.S. engagement in Vietnam, and the fight for Civil Rights.

Having lived in that era, however, I can look back and see that there were things which were being seeded into the collective experience in 1965 and 1966 that didn’t really reach a ‘fever pitch’ until 1967, 1968, and 1969.

For example, the first actual U.S. combat brigade didn’t land in Vietnam until 1965, and the first conventional battle there wasn’t until 1966. At that time things were already bad, but no one could see the real horror that was coming in the following years.

On a more positive note, with popular culture, on of the more exciting things I remember in 1966 was attending a Beatles concert. The experience of this concert definitely made me aware that something really new and different was afoot in the ‘zeitgeist’ of the time. It wasn’t particularly the music they were playing at that time. In fact at that concert I couldn’t hear a single note of what they were performing. As soon as they stepped out onto the stage out there on the racetrack all you could hear were 15,000 absolutely hysterical screaming girls.

Not having grown up with a sister this was a real shock for me. Looking back now I sincerely believe it was a form of ‘mass hysteria’. If you were a young girl attending that concert and you had not been planning to scream, I sincerely believe you would have been unable to not scream.

And although this was a shocking new phenomenon relative to the rather staid, comformative society of that time, I see now that this was just a prelude to what was coming, i.e. many forms of sexual liberation, and the huge psychedelic, Hippie, Anti-Vietnam protesting years of 1967, 68, & 69. A particular peak moment for me was being present and able to hear Jimi Hendrix pay ‘The Star Bangled Banner’ at the Woodstock Music Festival in 1969.

I share this analogy as a way of describing my sense of this present period of another intense Astrological ‘signature.’ My sense is that this last square is not the end of something, but the end of the beginning of something.

And, just as we can look back at the years 1965 and 1966 and see the omens of things which were to come later, so too we can take stock at this moment and look for the omens of what is now being born and is likely to increase in intensity in the years ahead.

There are plenty of obvious scenarios at play, but one of my exercises these last few days has been to pay attention to the appearance of any specific messages or synchronistic gestalt images of our current ‘zeitgeist.’

When I am home here in the mountains I listen to a lot of news and interview programs on the radio while I do daily chores, mostly on NPR, the BBC, and Alternative Radio. It is here where I have been listening for these omens. For example on Sunday evening I head about a nihilistic apocalyptic book entitled ‘In the Dust of this Planet’ whose book cover has made it into a famous fashion photo and onto the jacket of JZ in his and Beyonce’s recent video.

Later that same night I heard an interview with the author of ‘Sapiens’ presenting the premise that the next planetary revolution will not be an industrial revolution, or a technological revolution, but a revolution of the human species itself.

Now this second more hopeful scenario also acknowledged the rather apocalyptic backdrop which has certainly been poking its face at us in various guises in these days. Guises such as the fact that climate scientists are no longer speaking of climate change avoidance, but now of climate change adaptation, a hard message for the island nation of Vanuatu as the worst cyclone in their memory, equivalent to a Category 5 hurricane, devastated their homeland in these days of omen-watching.

Yesterday I heard an interview with the author of ‘The Internet is not the Answer’ by a Silicone Valley figure explaining how behind the rosy idealistic view of the Internet there is a growing awareness among some major players in Silicone Valley that the Internet actually promotes some of the basic evils of the early 21st century. The author cites inequality, unemployment, and the arising of the surveillance economy and culture. In his assessment he notes the emergence of a plutocratic elite, and that the ‘cult of the consumer’ espoused by people like Jeff Bezos of Amazon is actually impoverishing us as citizens.

The BBC program ‘Business Daily’ interviews plenty of brilliant thinkers who espouse other rather apocalyptic, Pluto in Capricorn, economic, business world scenarios.

And of course there are the other back drops of Ebola, Ukraine, and to my mind the most potent Gestaltic image prevalent on the word scene today: The Apocalyptic beliefs of the so-called Islamic State.

I have mentioned in a previous newsletter how the Islamic State is the one social/cultural/political entity who has a birthchart with the Pluto/Uranus Square in it. They are a product of these times. Their chart also has a whole lot of other Astrological factors indicative of their intense, violent, and what has been termed ‘death cult’ being and consciousness.

I heard today that part of their belief is that a Messiah will appear, and Jesus will appear as well (a prophet in Islam), and along with ISIS they will carry the final war to Jerusalem. Another rather heavy image to appear on these few days of watching for omens.

A particularly potent event relatable to these few days of prophetic anticipation, to my mind, is the election taking place today in Israel, a peaking moment in the midst of Netanyahu’s speech before the US Congress, the letter to Iran from the 47 Republican Senators, the culminating negotiations with Iran, and yesterday, the announcement by an official from Saudi Arabia that if Iran is allowed to pursue nuclear energy then they, as well as other players in the Middle East, will also insist on the right to develop nuclear energy.

These events feel to me a bit like the first Marine brigade to land in Vietnam in 1965…

I am not going to go into the details now, but Hilarion speaks of this period on the planet as ‘The Tribulation,’ a time of breaking down the old world system to allow the birth of a New Age. He has foretold many things which have and are now coming to pass. If you read his book: Nations, you can see that he has some pretty dire predictions. But at the end of that book he also says the following:

A final purpose for this booklet is to offer an exercise in prophecy – not to prove that we at this level can see the future more clearly than is possible from the earth plane (for this is not so), but rather to demonstrate that prophecy is a complex matter which can misfire, and that prophetic utterance should always be looked upon as if stating probabilities which mayor may not come about, depending upon the reactions of those to whom the prophetic warning is delivered. True occultists have always understood that the best prophet is the false prophet, i.e. the one whose warnings of things to come have so impressed his listeners that they, by altering their hearts and minds, were able to avert the events which the prophet foresaw. Indeed, the only real justification for prophecy is the possibility that it will prompt those upon whose ears it falls to alter their lives for the better, and thus to improve their souls.

For this reason, it will be seen that some of the prophetic statements which we have made in this booklet will not materialize, or will do so in altered form. If the alteration is a lessening of the blow, then we can only be pleased at the result. Indeed, the whole purpose of this little booklet, as well as the other books in the series, is to prompt as many souls as possible to abandon their old materialistic and selfish ways, and to take up the cross of service to their brothers – for by so doing they will kindle within themselves a warm flame which will shield them from the adversity and trouble that is beating even now at the doors.

Whether we will take opportunity to make that kind of change remains to be seen. I feel there is a greatly significant choice being made today in Israel. A choice I feel is more likely to engage Israel into the destiny Hilarion has predicted, and a choice that could alter that destiny…

No matter which choice is made I encourage us all to keep the faith that there is a Higher Reality behind life. Faith that there are higher Angelic beings, Ascended Masters, a spiritual Hierarchy and that things are playing out in the way s they need to for the karmic requirements of everyone involved. But it is all serving the ultimate evolutionary goal of the Divine becoming aware of itself. This being in resonance with the next revolution of the planet as foretold in the aforementioned book: Sapiens.

It is too late for this newsletter to have an effect on anyone voting in Israel today. Nonetheless I feel inspired to share Hilarions’s prediction for Israel:

ISRAEL has lost her Master.

She has forgotten the God who guided her people through the long centuries of affliction and persecution. Because she has forgotten her God, she will be tested in the very center of the crucible when the bitter years are upon the earth. This trial will bring the nation back to God, but only after much has been suffered.

Israel has been the repository of a burning faith and devotion for many centuries. She was meant to carry that flame aloft so that in the Tribulation years new fires could be lighted from it, to bring the world back to a true faith.

Those of her people who remained in other countries have still that intensity of dedication to their religion which can fulfill the stated purpose during the Last Days. But among the people of the new state of Israel there is only a mockery of faith. They do not believe any more. And because of their unbelief they will be forced to drink the bitter cup to the dregs in the years of trouble ahead.

I do believe that not only Israel, but also much of the world has lost their Master. It has been noted that for many of the members of ISIS their inspiration to join was not as a result of economic disadvantages. Many of their foreign fighters come from privileged, educated backgrounds. To my mind the attraction of ISIS is because these people feel the energy of having found their Master. They are experiencing an individual, ego-transcending, collective, spiritually passionate faith and transcendent surrender to a higher reality. Something which is virtually totally lacking within the secular, consumeristic, materially obsessed, hedonistic, and comparatively boring Western world of today.

Unfortunately these ISIS members have been seduced by a Dark Master, what feels like a manifestation of the Anti-Christ energies rather than the Christ energies.

Hilarion has stated that just as the Christ is really an energy, basically the Love aspect of the Divine, so too the Anti-Christ is also an energy. And in order to allow the Christ energy access to the planet they also had to allow the Anti-Christ energy access to the planet.

I do feel hope and faith however. Another interesting corollary between now and the 1960’s: 2008 was the 40th anniversary of the 1968 ‘Summer of Love’ here in the U.S. In respect of that one of the Art House theaters in Seattle ran some interesting films to commemorate the occasion. One was a CBS television documentary about the Hippie Movement. It was quite interesting.

The segment which particularly tweaked me was an interview with a teenage boy who had been place in a psychiatric hospital by his parents after experimenting with LSD. One of his statements ran something like: “All of a sudden I realized that everything was energy and that everything was one and that God was everywhere.”

They then interviewed the greatly distraught mother who was truly concerned about her son’s mental state issuing a statement which, at that time, would have been truly alarming: “He said that he saw God. And of course nobody can see God, not until you die.” And the interviewer acquiesced in commiseration for the obviously crazy irrational statement uttered by her son.

This was a clear illustration of the collective mind-set of that era. Nowadays such a statement is not likely to cause anywhere near the same alarm in the majority of the population. Clearly we have come a long ways. There is, however, a lot more to come, and needs to come, if we are to survive as a species.

Well Netanyahu has won the Israeli election with the promise that there will be no two-state solution to the Palestinian Occupation. Personally I had hoped for a different outcome. Maybe the die is cast. Regardless, I pray for the peace and well-being and liberation of all souls including the Israelis and Palestinians and everyone everywhere.

This Friday there will be a New Moon with a Solar Eclipse with the Moon engaging the Pluto/Uranus Square as the Spring Equinox Sun entering Aries occurs. Another time for ‘omen watching’ and to embrace death and a new beginning.
